2012 Class Schedule

 First Saturdays in 2012 - Treasures of the Heart Bee 
10 a.m. to Noon   Free

Bring your projects-- sewing, quilting, or other-- and come fellowship with others like you. A great time just to rest from the rush of life and enjoy some companionship.

Third Saturdays in 2012 Hand Piecing and Quilting 
10 a.m. to 12 noon Instructor: Margie Mielke. $10 plus supplies.

Learn with a variety of projects selected to showcase and per-fect hand stitching skills. Call a few days in advance so we can prepare supplies for you.


Mondays, February 6th through March 5th - Six Mondays of BEGINNING QUILTING
10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Instructor: Mary Carlton. $55 plus supplies.

This class walks you through all the basics including tools needed and rotary cutter use, explains varied techniques, gives you plenty of choices and leaves you with enough blocks for a nice table runner or a good beginning for your own bed sized quilt. Registration deadline is January 23rd.  



February 4th - PUZZLE QUILT
12 noon to 2:00 p.m. Instructor: Connie Broy $25 plus pattern*

10 fat quarters yield a 39 " by 51" lap size quilt in an interesting, colorful puzzle pattern. perfect for a long winter's nap. This pattern lends itself to modern or traditional decor, depending on fabric selected.



February 18th ENGLISH PAPER PIECING
10 a.m. to 12 noon Instructor: Margie Mielke $25

Learn traditional English paper Piecing. Just the recipe for a great take-a-long project for travel or biding time. For this class, you'll make a grandmother's flower garden. Register by February 11 and get your supply list.



March 3rd STRIP AND SCRAP BAG
12 noon to 2 p.m. Instructor: Connie Broy $25 plus pattern*

Use that stash of 2 1/2" strips and scrap batting to make a unique bag you will love. These strips will impress your friends!



March 24th FRACTURED RAINBOWS
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Instructor: Mary Carlton $45 plus pattern*
 Use this cut 'em up process for a new take, whether you choose traditional rainbow colors or your own selection.



April 4th NOT SO STRAIGHT FURROWS 
12 noon to 2 p.m. Instructor: Connie Broy $25

Calling on all scraps, squares, half-square triangles, and fat quarter to come together in making this very striking quilt using contrasting scraps from Civil War fabrics, scrap bag, 5" charm squares or just pick your favorite pallet.


  




Thursdays, April 12th and 19th and May 10th and 17th HAND APPLIQUÉ 
10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Instructor: Mary Carlton $45.
 Learn the variations and applications of hand appliqué. You will finish thoroughly immersed in the basics and beyond with this timeless quilting technique. Appliqué makes for stunning results, and, under Mary's expert instruction, it's easier than it appears.




May 8th COOKIES AND MILK
10 a.m. to 12 noon Instructor: Connie Broy $25 plus pattern*

No calories to be found in this rich, almost edible concoction. This technique makes for a fast and easy quilt for all skill level, and actually resembles an infamous chocolate cookie, just not the eating kind.



June 2nd MARINERS COMPASS STAR
 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Instructor: Connie Broy $45 (which includes pattern printouts)

Learn to make this breath-taking star inside a traditional circle, or an oval. This exercise will tweak your math skills. An advanced quilter will flourish with Connie's approach, and confident beginners are welcomed as well.



June 23rd PIPING TECHNIQUES
 10 a.m. to 12 noon Instructor: Connie Broy $25

You'll be smokin' with no harm caused as you learn creative ways to showcase and finish your projects.



September 8th STAR ILLUSIONS
10 a.m. to 12 noon Instructor: Connie Broy Fee: $25 plus pattern*

Quick and fun. The ease will allude you at first glance. We promise you'll love how nicely this pattern goes together, adds itself to traditional or modern.



September 22nd CHRISTMAS WREATH
10 a.m. to 12 noon Instructor: Connie Broy $25 plus pattern

You'll love the heirloom-quality look of this wall hanging. The paper piecing project makes it easy, despite appearances.



October 13th CAMOUFLAGE PATCHWORK
10 a.m. to 12 noon Instructor: Connie Broy $25 plus Connie's book.

You will view the nine patch block differently after taking this class. Connie developed this technique, wrote and copyrighted the book.



October 26 MYSTERY QUILT AND FEAST
6 p.m. until the witching hour.

*Most patterns are just under $10.
